CSUCI Presents 'Einstein and Lasers' Talk

WHAT:  “Einstein and Lasers,” a talk presented by Dr. Alfred Leung, professor of physics, California State University Long Beach, who has written three books and more than 80 scientific articles. Professor Leung will present an entertaining review of how Einstein developed the concepts of quantum optics and stimulated emission of radiation, which played such important roles in the development of modern physics and led to the invention of lasers. The contributions of other historical figures who contributed to this work will also be included. The talk celebrates the 100th anniversary of Einstein’s major work on the “Theory of Special Relativity,” and is one of a series of presentations CSUCI is hosting as part of the World Year of Physics global celebration. Future talks will feature gravitational lensing and quantum optical applications. The event is free and open to the public.
