CSUCI to Hold Media Conference Regarding Student Threat

Camarillo, Calif., April 19, 2007, 4:40 p.m. – California State University Channel Islands will host a media conference to release details and provide information on a threat posted by a student on the Internet site Facebook.com.

The conference will be held at 5:45 p.m. today, April 19, on the campus of California State University Channel Islands in the front of the Bell Tower building.

The following CSUCI officials will make statements:

  1. Dr. Richard R. Rush, President
  2. John M. Reid, Chief of Police and Director of Public Safety
  3. Dr. Wm. Gregory Sawyer, Vice President for Student Affairs

Questions from the media will be addressed after the statements have been made.

The threat was made on the Internet site Facebook and posted under the student’s profile name. CSUCI police officers were contacted in regard to the threat by a residence hall staff member who had been notified about the threat by another student.
